Busy, Busy

This past weekend I attended a girlfriend's baby shower here in the neighborhood. Then that evening, attended at bachlorette bash/lingerie shower at another friend's house. I tried my best to hang with the crowd, but ended up hitting the hay around midnight. I think I'm still paying the price because I am EXHAUSTED! It's not even 8:00 pm and I think I'm going to shower and call it a night here very soon! We have Betsy's wedding coming up this weekend and we couldn't be more excited!!! YAY for weddings!!

26 WEEKS

Sorry it's been so long people! Here are several shots from tonight that shows how fast Lakely is growing. She has turned into a little karate kid in my belly. She's discovered that applying pressure to mommy's rib cage is fun, and has managed to keep up the good work over the past several days! Next Thursday I go for the glucose test. Not looking forward to it since most moms that I keep in touch with dreaded it so bad. We'll have our four week check up then too. I am HOPING that we won't have to wait another few weeks for an ultrasound; I'm going to try and talk my way back in the sonogram room while I'm there. It'll have been 8 WEEKS since we last saw her! EWH! Course, we were lucky in the beginning b/c it seemed like we got an ultrasound every time we went to the doc...

Wedding Showers Bring May Flowers!

Betsy's friend Robin, and I hosted a bridal shower for her yesterday at Kathy's house. We had a great turn out, and she received tons of fabulous gifts! The wedding is getting so very close; I can't wait! There will be pics to follow, I just have to make my way back to Charleston to do so. Unfortunately, with this LOVELY weather we're having at the moment, my flight has been CANCELLED! I'm scheduled to be on a return flight tomorrow, but I do have this responsibility known as a JOB, so we'll see how they take it :( Hopefully it will actually snow and all this hype won't seem so ridiculous!

Valentine's Day

We had a great V'Day this year! We started out the day with some french toast and a scavenger hunt! I had bought Lakely a new outfit and since Tony and I decided to not buy anything for each other this year, I showed him her new "rags" by making him find them all over the house. It was a silly, but fun adventure! The remainder of the day we spent at Babies R Us trying to figure out what on earth we needed for our registry. I started getting a little overwhelmed in the beginning, but once we got to the accessories that I was sure we were getting, I felt much better! Tony was a trooper; as long as he had the scanner gun, he was satisfied. I know we're going to need to register for a lot more, but I figure we have some time, and it felt like a good start.

Today I attended a baby shower for my friend Jenny and she got a ton of great gifts. All in all, it was a super weekend!!

Lakely Brooklyn Barlett

These are pictures from her "20 week" ultrasound, (even though it was 19 wks, 3 days.) She is very healthy, weighing in at 10oz! Tony and I have finalized her name, which feels amazing! It was a much longer process than was anticipated, that's for sure! Tony started painting today, and will add the bead board next weekend. It will certainly be a SASSY nursery; the pink is very BOLD! Right up my alley:) **The pictures of the crib and dresser are the ones that we ordered but it will be in WHITE**

Baby Bedding

We FINALLY picked some bedding this past weekend for the nursery. Since week 4 of my pregnancy I have been looking at different patterns here and there and we finally agreed on one. There are SO many choices and I couldn't decide if I wanted to go "sweet and pastel" or "sassy and bold"...Sassy and Bold it is! I LOVE IT! (It will be paired with white furniture.)

Belly Time!

It seems as if my belly sprouted overnight! This is the most recent picture at 16 weeks and 4 days...

Goodbye For Now, Until We Meet Again...

Granddaddy passed away at 11:03 am on Wednesday, January 14th. He had battled his last stint with cancer for 11 months. He had dealt with the devilish disease for a total of 18 years and had managed to put the cancer in remission four times. This last though, he was not so lucky. He was an incredible man; born January 10, 1933. He had just celebrated his 76th Birthday four days prior to his last breath. He had two daughters, three granddaughters, and NOW a great-granddaughter on the way. He was always out-numbered, but didn't mind a bit! I was able to tell him the gender of our baby the Friday before he passed and his response to another girl in the family was priceless. He sat on the phone for a minute, then once he let what I was telling him digest, he quietly said, "Well,...that's okay." I might have gotten my feelings hurt if the situation hadn't been so sensitive, but I thought it was a great reply! He and I were both thinking it was going to be a little boy, and then when it was all confirmed I couldn't believe it!! I'm of course ecstatic, and I know Granddaddy was too but he sure was looking forward to a side kick. Now that he's gone I'm glad the results are what they are. I couldn't imagine him waiting for a boy for so many years and then not be around to teach him all the incredible things that he had to share. I'm sure right now he's in heaven waiting impatiently for this baby girl to grace the world. I couldn't have asked for a better Grandfather. I thank the Lord everyday for what he's blessed me with. I now have a guardian angel by my side forever and always.

Sad Times

Just got word this evening that Granddaddy is slipping into a slight coma. His blood pressure has dropped drastically and he has become non responsive and not eating or drinking. I can't begin to tell you how hard it is to be away from the family during these hard times. My mom and the hospice nurses are helping Nana tremendously, so hopefully he'll be able to stay at their house the duration of his time here. The nurse assigned to him only lives about 15 minutes away and assured Nana to not hesitate to call if she needs her for any reason...that makes me feel good that people care so much. We're planning on making a trip home early Friday morning, I just hope it isn't too late. Please keep our family in your prayers, and hope that his last few days with us are pain free.

So Stressful!

We've been throwing around names all day and haven't even come close to finding "the one." I thought by having the sex narrowed down that it would be a cinch...not so much! If you have any ideas, please share :)

It's A Girl!

We found out 1/9/09 that we will be having a little baby girl. We were only supposed to be going for a check-up, but I worked my way into the ultrasound room! We really wanted to find out in order to tell Granddaddy for his 76th Birthday today. His health is very poor, and hospice has come in to help him and Nana take of things. Needless to say, he was excited; (even though he was thinking it was a BOY!) Now it's time to design the nursery!

NYE 2008

We had a party in the neighborhood to go to on New Years, which was a lot of fun! It was at Chad and Corrisa's house just a few doors down. Once the clock struck midnight, another neighbor that hosts lots parties, decided to open "Club Lush." That is our local dance club that we have here in the Reminisce community. Really it's just his garage, but he's totally transformed it into a a dance club with VIP and all. It was loads of fun, especially when everyone reverted back to the middle school days and decided to create a circle and have a dance-off. It was hilarious! Good times had by all. Next year will be even better when I don't have to toast with grape juice.

Christmas 2008

Me with baby "B" at 13 weeks and 1 day.

My mom and I with Granddaddy sporting his new Great Grandpa shirt.

I opened my first Mommy shirt!

My family at my Grandparent's house.

Tony with his parents before Christmas Eve mass.

We had such a wonderful Christmas with everyone. Typically we're in and out due to work and travel, but this year we had several days that we could enjoy with our family and friends. This is certainly one of the best holidays; next year I'm sure even better with our little one!

12 Weeks

On December 18th we went to the doctor for the NT scan that checks for Downs Syndrome and a couple of other chromosome deficiencies. We got the results today and everything checked out great! What they do is take an ultrasound of your baby (a nice long one so you get to see it playing around for awhile), and they measure the length and width of the neck. They also take my blood and then send everything to the lab. It was simple and painless and the best part was that we got to see the baby again! Tony brought our new video camera in with us and videoed most of the ultrasound; it was SO AWESOME! We got to show the family at Christmas and they were all amazed at how much the baby had grown and developed in only two weeks! We are totally on cloud nine! Even more so now that we've set the next ultrasound for February 13th and we'll find out if our sweet pea will be a boy or a girl! (BTW, the BPM were up a little during this visit, 157!)
